Paramount water damage, where one in nine homes rolls

SOS Restoration of Long Beach covers Paramount, from the river to Rosecrans. We extract the water, then rebuild. Spanish or English on site, the visit is free. Half the housing here predates 1970. Call (657) 660-4185.

My mobile home flooded. Who handles it?

Paramount has more mobile homes than almost anywhere nearby, and they flood differently.

Us, and in Paramount that is a routine call.

One in nine Paramount homes is a mobile or manufactured unit, about seven times the county rate. The floor rides on a steel frame over a belly wrap, and that assembly hides water well.

What kind of flood zone is this?

Shallow ponding: water that stands, one to three feet.

FEMA maps parts of Paramount as Zone AH, where the hundred-year flood pools rather than runs. It stands in low spots instead of rushing through, which changes what soaks and how far.

Why is the pipe usually the cause?

Because the median home here dates to 1970.

A third of Paramount’s homes went up before 1960. Old supply lines and old drains fail on their own, and in a crowded house a small leak spreads fast.

Who supplies the tap water?

From the city’s own system, not a private company.

Paramount runs a municipal utility with 7,564 connections for about 55,200 people. A supply-line break is the city’s water on your floor, and we dry it like any other water loss.

What do you bring to a Paramount job?

All six, and the mobile-home floor shapes several.

Ready for whatever the house threw at you

Water damage

Old lines and belly-wrap floors; metered and dried.

Mold

Crowded older rooms hold damp; the wet edge read.

Fire and smoke

Soot off the surfaces, the smell out of belly and attic.

Storm and debris

Zone AH ponds rather than runs; standing water pumped out.

Sewage

Under-floor sewage out; the belly wrap stripped and dried.

Reconstruction

Site-built or mobile, restored at one agreed price.

The unit feels damp underneath. Why?

A mobile-home belly holds water out of sight.

Under a manufactured floor sits insulation and a wrap that traps moisture against the frame. It reads dry up top and stays wet below. We open and meter the belly, not just the floor.

Who closes it back up?

We do, and the two licenses stay ours.

IICRC #70194273 for the drying, CSLB #1131134 for the rebuild, one crew throughout. Next over in Bellflower and Lakewood, the rate card is identical. Ask the dispatcher what your home needs.

When is nothing owed here?

When it stopped at the threshold and never crossed.

Water outside the envelope dries on its own. The bill starts when it found insulation, subfloor or a stud bay, which is where Paramount pipe usually puts it.

The number is the part that matters. The rest just tells us which crew to send and how far up the road they are going.
